Teen fighting for life after collision with private hire car in Leeds

A pedestrian has been left with life-threatening injuries after a collision involving a private hire vehicle in Leeds in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police came across the incident at around 12.15am on Blenheim Terrace, near the junction with Hillary Place. The collision involved an 18-year-old male pedestrian and a silver Toyota Prius operating as a private hire car.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle, a 55-year-old man from Leeds, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
West Yorkshire Police appeal for witnesses following early-morning incident involving a Toyota Prius private hire vehicle
West Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit is now appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have captured footage of the incident to come forward.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to people who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it, including anyone with dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage that could assist the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation.
