Two drivers charged after fatal Leicestershire taxi collision

Two men have been charged following a fatal crash involving a taxi on Glenfield Road, Leicester, which resulted in the death of a 60-year-old woman and serious injuries to two other passengers.
The collision happened shortly before 8.30pm on Saturday 16 September 2023. Donna Brighton, from Leicester, died after the taxi she was travelling in was involved in a crash with a silver Vauxhall Astra.
A man in his 40s and a woman in her 50s, also travelling in the taxi, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Following enquiries by Leicestershire Police, two men have now been charged in connection with the incident.
Thomas Goulty, 34, is charged with one count of causing death by careless driving and two counts of causing serious injury by careless driving.
Mohammad Sarwar, 68, faces one count of causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Both are due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Monday 28 July.
