Uber has unveiled a range of new premium travel services along the Amalfi Coast, as over five million tourists are expected to visit the region this summer.
Launching from 26 July, the new offerings include helicopter transfers to Capri, private boat charters and scheduled car rides designed to simplify travel across one of Italy’s busiest summer destinations.
Uber Copter will allow users to pre-book private helicopter trips between Sorrento and Capri through the app. Each flight carries up to six people at €1,500 per trip, or €250 per person. Bookings include transfers from anywhere on the Amalfi Coast to the helipad in Sorrento. The service will run every Saturday and Sunday until 24 August and must be booked at least 48 hours in advance.
Uber Boat offers private 4-hour cruises along the coastline for up to 12 passengers aboard a Gozzo 35 motorboat. Departing from Sorrento Marina, the service includes a skipper, snacks and drinks. Pricing for the boat charter has not been confirmed, though Uber said availability would be limited and weather dependent.
A third service, Uber Reserve, will also be introduced to help visitors secure ground transport in advance. With the expected surge in tourist numbers and the recent opening of Salerno Airport to international flights, the company says this option gives users more control during peak travel times.
The new services reflect growing demand for Uber’s products in Italy’s tourism hubs. In summer 2024, international customer usage rose by up to 25% in locations like Rome, Lake Como and the Amalfi Coast. More than 60,000 users opened the Uber app in the Amalfi region in the past year alone.
All three services—Uber Copter, Uber Boat and Uber Reserve—will be available to book via the Uber app across Italy from 25 June.
