Uber has reached a new milestone, with 10 million monthly active drivers and couriers now using its platform globally, according to senior executives.
Chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi confirmed the figure, stating: “10 million drivers and couriers, and still growing.” The update reflects continued expansion of Uber’s mobility and delivery services across international markets, as the firm scales both ride-hailing and logistics operations.
The milestone was also highlighted by Uber’s Chief Product Officer Sachin Kansal, who said: “There are now 10 million monthly active drivers and couriers on Uber—what a milestone!” Kansal added that the workforce plays a central role in urban transport systems, stating: “The work you do is an essential part of daily life in cities around the world.”
Uber said the platform now operates in more than 15,000 communities globally, positioning itself as both a transport provider and a flexible work marketplace. Kansal noted: “We’re proud to have created a platform that offers flexible work to so many people, and is an economic engine for the 15,000+ communities in which we operate.”

The company’s growth marks a significant evolution since its founding in 2009. Uber was established in San Francisco by Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp, initially as a premium black-car service called UberCab. The idea emerged after the pair experienced difficulty securing a taxi during a trip to Paris, prompting the concept of booking rides via a smartphone app. The service officially launched in 2010, before expanding rapidly into a broader ride-hailing model and, later, into food delivery through Uber Eats.
Since then, Uber has diversified into multiple verticals including freight, food delivery, and multimodal transport integrations. The expansion has been accompanied by ongoing regulatory scrutiny in key markets, particularly around worker classification, licensing frameworks, and local transport rules.
The 10 million figure highlights the scale of Uber’s supply-side network and its continued influence on markets within the taxi and private hire sector. The growth also reflects sustained demand for app-based transport and delivery services.
Uber signalled that further expansion remains a priority, with Kansal stating: “We’ll keep listening, learning, and building for you every day. Here’s to the next 10 million!” The company did not provide a timeline for reaching its next growth target, but the current milestone reinforces its position as one of the largest global platforms connecting independent drivers, couriers, and passengers.
