Uber has confirmed it will begin rolling out a redesigned version of its Uber Pro driver rewards programme in select US cities from the week commencing 9 February, starting with Honolulu, Hawaii, and Knoxville, Tennessee.
The updated scheme was first announced at Uber’s Only on Uber event last year and follows internal driver feedback on how the programme could be made more flexible and financially attractive. Uber said the changes are intended to improve day-to-day working conditions while encouraging service quality and safer driving behaviour.
Under the revised structure, drivers continue to earn points based on trip acceptance, cancellation rates and service delivery, with progression through Blue, Gold, Platinum and Diamond tiers unlocking additional benefits. Uber says it has lowered the point thresholds and softened qualification criteria for some higher tiers, making progression easier for drivers with strong performance records.
Gold, Platinum and Diamond drivers will gain access to a new 5 percent Pro Perk, providing higher earnings on UberX and most other ride types compared with entry-level drivers. Diamond drivers will also be eligible for a complimentary three-month Uber One membership later this year, offering delivery fee waivers and discounts on eligible orders, with timing still to be confirmed.
New programme introduces 5% fare uplift, priority access to trips and revised tier requirements, with initial launch limited to two markets
Operational changes form a central part of the update. Higher-tier drivers will receive earlier access to exclusive trip requests through Priority Rides, along with increased priority matching via Trip Radar, particularly at airports and on selected high-demand trips. Platinum and Diamond drivers will also see an expansion in Priority Reserve bookings, allowing greater ability to plan work in advance.
Uber is also introducing a new Driving Insights score as a qualification requirement for Gold, Platinum and Diamond status, aimed at recognising safer driving habits. The company said this metric is designed to reward consistency rather than penalise drivers for isolated incidents.
A redesigned Uber Pro Hub will accompany the rollout, providing drivers with clearer visibility of tier progress, reward eligibility and performance metrics. Existing Uber Pro benefits, including a free one-year Costco Gold Star membership and fuel discounts through Upside, will remain available, although eligibility rules for some rewards may change as the update is implemented.
The initial rollout is limited to two US markets, with Uber stating that additional cities will follow at a later date. No international launch timeline has been confirmed.
