Veezu has expanded its UK footprint with the acquisition of Go Cars, the largest private hire operator in Bedfordshire, marking its entry into Luton and surrounding areas including Dunstable. The move forms part of the company’s strategy to scale operations outside London and build stronger regional transport networks.

Founded in 2010, Go Cars operates a fleet of more than 600 vehicles serving a high-volume commuter population. Its integration into Veezu’s platform is expected to enhance service coverage across the Home Counties, linking existing operations in Cambridgeshire and the wider East of England.

Luton’s position as a commuter hub has been a key factor in the deal. The town offers a 24-minute rail connection to central London and continues to attract first-time buyers seeking more affordable housing. It is also home to London Luton Airport, the UK’s fifth busiest airport, which handled 16.7 million passengers in 2024, creating sustained demand for private hire services.

Veezu said passengers will retain access to the existing Go Cars service, while gaining additional features through its app, including real-time vehicle tracking, enhanced address search and multiple payment options such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Pre-booking functionality is also expected to support planned journeys, particularly for airport transfers and commuter trips.

Deal strengthens regional private hire network as operator targets commuter and airport travel demand

The acquisition further consolidates Veezu’s position in the fragmented UK private hire market. Founded in Wales in 2013, the company now operates across hundreds of towns and cities, is licensed by 63 local authorities, and completes more than 25 million rides annually through its network of self-employed driver-partners.

Nathan Bowles, CEO of Veezu, said: “We’ve always been clear in our ambition to build a truly national network, with a Veezu flag in every region of the UK. Our expansion into Luton is a strong example of that in action, as we continue to grow a network of local transport hubs while delivering the dependable, community-focused service passengers rely on every day.

“Go Cars is a highly respected operator with a long-standing reputation for strong local service and deep roots in the Luton community. Bringing the business into our network strengthens Veezu’s presence in a strategically important town, where strong commuter demand and international travel through Luton Airport make reliable transport essential.”
