Veezu has agreed a new partnership with Rowan’s Hospice that will see the private hire operator cover the cost of rides for patients and relatives travelling to and from hospice services.
The initiative is intended to ease the strain of frequent appointments and visits for people dealing with life-limiting illness.
The support forms part of the operator’s Funded by Veezu programme, which backs charities and community groups across the UK. The company said the arrangement offers practical help for families who often face both financial and mobility challenges when accessing palliative and wellbeing services.
Rowan’s Hospice provides specialist clinical care, bereavement support and a range of wellbeing programmes for people across Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. As a charity, it depends on local partners to maintain service levels and meet rising demand. Reliable transport has been highlighted as a recurring difficulty for some patients and carers.

Veezu’s offer of free journeys is expected to reduce missed appointments and improve continuity of care. For relatives visiting regularly, the scheme removes a recurring cost and provides a consistent transport option during a difficult period.
Both organisations will monitor uptake as the partnership continues into next year, with the hospice viewing the collaboration as a valuable addition to its wider support network.
Sally Krouma, Marketing Manager at Veezu, said: “At Veezu, we are committed to supporting the communities we operate in. Partnering with Rowan’s Hospice allows us to help reduce one of the day-to-day pressures families may face when attending appointments or visiting loved ones. By providing free rides, we aim to make travel simpler and ensure people can focus on the support they need and the time they spend together.”
A spokesperson for Rowan’s Hospice added:“We are incredibly grateful to Veezu for their generosity. Transport can be a real concern for many families, especially when frequent visits or appointments are involved. This partnership will make a significant difference to the people we support, helping them stay connected and ensuring they can access our services with ease.”
