Wallbox has agreed a new partnership with Freenow by Lyft to support the electrification of taxi operations across key European markets.

The programme has launched in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Spain, giving Freenow battery electric and plug-in hybrid taxi drivers access to selected Wallbox charging solutions for home, business and fleet use.

Under the agreement, drivers and fleet operators will receive exclusive conditions across Wallbox products, including Pulsar Max for individual drivers, and Pulsar Pro and eM4 for fleet and shared charging environments.

The move comes as taxi and ride-hailing platforms continue to increase the share of electric vehicles operating in European cities. Wallbox said more than 60% of vehicles on the Freenow platform across more than 180 European cities are now fully or partially electrified.

Wallbox will offer Freenow drivers and fleet operators access to discounted EV charging hardware and certified installation support across five European markets.

For drivers and fleet owners, charging access remains one of the main operational factors in the shift away from petrol and diesel vehicles. Taxi operators typically require dependable overnight, home or depot-based charging to keep vehicles available for daily service.

Ignasi Alastuey, Chief Business Officer at Wallbox, said: “The shift to electric mobility in the taxi sector will depend on making charging simple, accessible and suited to the everyday needs of drivers and fleet operators. At Wallbox, we are focused on helping remove barriers to adoption with charging solutions that are easy to use and designed to support professional mobility. Through this partnership with Freenow, we are making that transition more accessible for drivers across Europe.”

Felix Brand, Chief Strategy Officer at Freenow by Lyft at Freenow, said: “At Freenow, we are committed to supporting drivers and fleet partners in their transition to electric mobility. Working with Wallbox allows us to offer access to charging solutions that are practical, reliable and adapted to the needs of our driver community, helping make electrification a more viable option across our network.”
