West Midlands Police released a CCTV image of a man they wish to talk to in relation to a robbery after fooling the public that he was a taxi driver.

According to a statement from Birmingham Police, the incident occurred late on 30 March. At around 11pm, a man and a woman boarded a vehicle on Bristol Street under the belief it was a taxi.

The fake taxi driver then transported the pair to the city’s outskirts, where he proceeded to rob them of their phones and wallets, leaving them stranded.

A Birmingham Police spokesperson said: “Recognise this man? We want to speak to him after a robbery in Birmingham in March.

“We're keen to speak to anyone who might recognise this man to get in touch with us via 101 or Live Chat quoting log number 918 of 31 March.”
