New data released by Uber, based on millions of trips and deliveries made across the UK, identifies Birmingham’s most requested destinations by passengers using the platform. The findings point to sustained demand linked to family attractions, major event venues and city centre retail and hospitality.
In the tourist category, Cadbury World emerged as the most requested destination. Located in Bournville, the attraction draws visitors year round for its history of chocolate manufacturing and interactive experiences, generating consistent private hire demand from both local and regional travellers.
For events, the National Exhibition Centre topped the list. The NEC hosts large scale conferences, exhibitions and concerts, and remains one of the country’s highest volume venues for ride-hail and taxi journeys, particularly during multi day trade shows and evening performances when public transport capacity is stretched.
Birmingham’s nightlife demand was led by LAB11, a Digbeth based venue known for electronic music events. Its location outside the traditional city centre nightlife core has historically driven higher reliance on taxis and private hire vehicles, especially during late night operating hours.
New figures from Uber show Cadbury World, the NEC and the Bullring leading ride demand in Birmingham, reflecting the city’s mix of leisure, hospitality and large scale events
In the restaurant category, Opheem ranked highest. The Michelin starred Indian restaurant in the city centre attracts destination dining trips, with Uber data suggesting customers are more likely to prebook or travel longer distances compared with casual dining venues.
Hotel related journeys were most frequently directed to The Grand Hotel. The landmark Colmore Row hotel continues to benefit from business travel and high end leisure stays, driving steady weekday and weekend demand linked to corporate bookings and events at nearby offices and venues.
Shopping trips were unsurprisingly dominated by Bullring, one of the UK’s busiest retail destinations. The Bullring’s central location and extended opening hours, particularly during weekends and seasonal peaks, make it a consistent source of ride requests for private hire drivers operating across the city.
Uber said the regional data highlights how travel patterns differ sharply between cities, shaped by local attractions and infrastructure. For operators and drivers in Birmingham, the results underline the continued importance of event led demand and destination venues in shaping working patterns and peak periods.
