Wolverhampton Council joins HMRC, immigration and police officers in latest taxis and PHV compliance operation held at NEC

Wolverhampton taxi and private hire compliance officers have taken part in a multi-agency enforcement operation at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Solihull.
City of Wolverhampton Council’s Public Protection team said the operation was led by police and involved West Midlands Police, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), Immigration, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Solihull licensing officers.

The involvement of several agencies allows different aspects of driver and vehicle compliance to be examined during the same operation, including matters falling within licensing, roadworthiness, immigration and taxation enforcement responsibilities.
Wolverhampton is one of the country’s largest private hire licensing authorities, meaning its compliance activity can extend beyond the city as licensed drivers work across local authority boundaries.
WV Public Protection did not disclose how many vehicles or drivers were checked during the NEC operation, or whether any offences, licence breaches or other enforcement action were recorded.
