A motorist has been prosecuted for careless driving after crashing into a parked car while trying to mock police officers dealing with an incident on the roadside.
West Midlands Police Traffic shared details of the incident, which saw the driver attempt to be humorous by shouting “You can’t park there!” as they passed officers on duty. Moments later, the vehicle collided with a stationary car directly in front.
The force confirmed that the driver was charged with careless driving following the crash.
Police have continued to warn against distractions and reckless behaviour while behind the wheel, particularly when passing active roadside scenes.
A West Midlands Police Traffic spokesperson said: “That moment when you see the police dealing with an incident at the roadside & think you’ll be witty & clever by shouting “You can’t park there!” as you pass only to immediately crash into a parked car in front of you and then get prosecuted for careless driving.”
