DVSA issues warning to taxi and PHV drivers to check tyres after minicab found with cords exposed
The DVSA issued a warning to taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) drivers to check their tyres after a minicab was found with a heavily worn tyre.
Photos of a black Mercedes-Benz people carrier was shared on social media. Images showed the inside edge of a front tyre so heavily worn the white cords under the rubber were exposed.
Officers urged other PHV and taxi drivers to ensure their vehicles were roadworthy to carry passengers.
A DVSA Enforcement spokesperson said via social media: “Do you drive a taxi or private hire vehicle?
“Please check tyres and ensure your vehicle is safe to carry passengers.
“We can prohibit vehicle use, issue FPNs & report to court if required.
“Local authority licensing officers will also take action.”
