Elderly taxi passenger killed in Bradford collision as driver arrested

A 71-year-old woman has died following a road traffic collision involving a taxi on Thornton Road in Bradford, according to West Yorkshire Police.
Officers were called at 10.17am on 11 April by the ambulance service to reports of a serious incident involving a grey Toyota Prius taxi. Despite receiving medical attention, the woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the taxi, a 72-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Police confirmed he was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Thornton Road remained closed throughout the afternoon as specialist officers carried out enquiries at the scene. The investigation is being led by the force’s Major Collision Enquiry Team.
