Exploring the benefits of Klarna and Uber's payment flexibility partnership

Klarna has teamed up with Uber to integrate its payment solutions into Uber's platforms, including the ride-sharing service and the food delivery arm, Uber Eats. This partnership marks a strategic move to improve customer experiences with more flexible payment options.

The collaboration is already operational in the United States, Germany and Sweden. Through Klarna's "Pay Now" feature, users can settle payments for rides or food deliveries with a single click. This option not only simplifies the payment process but also incorporates a tracking system within the Klarna app, where users can monitor all their transactions.

Further enhancing the service, Klarna has introduced a monthly payment plan exclusive to customers in Sweden and Germany. This plan consolidates all transactions made during the month into one cumulative payment. This payment aligns with the users’ monthly salary cycles, offering a budget-friendly solution that avoids interest and major fees.

Sebastian Siemiatkowski, CEO and Co-Founder of Klarna, said: “Our global partnership with Uber, a pioneer in the industry, represents a significant milestone as it will provide consumers with even more flexibility and convenience in how they pay, even while on the go. Consumers can Pay Now quickly and securely in full, which already accounts for over one third of Klarna’s global volumes, and more easily manage their finances in one place.”

Karl Hebert, Vice President of Payments, Risk, and Identity at Uber, said: “Klarna’s offerings allow our customers in the US (Pay Now), Sweden, and Germany (Pay Now and monthly payment) to pay for their rides and deliveries in a way that meets their unique needs and preferences. We are committed to improving and localising our payments experience, and our global partnership with Klarna helps us do just that, while also reducing our cost of acceptance.”
