A London taxi driver was left surprised during a routine Heathrow pick-up after discovering his passenger had once played in the NFL and was a Super Bowl champion.
Colin Casey, who picked up the American traveller from the airport, shared the encounter with fellow taxi drivers. During the journey, the passenger revealed he had played in the 2005 Super Bowl and was carrying his winner’s ring, which he let the driver try on.
The passenger is believed to be Sean Morey, a former wide receiver in the National Football League. Morey was drafted by the New England Patriots in 1999 and went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.
He was part of the Pittsburgh Steelers team that won Super Bowl XL, defeating the Seattle Seahawks. The ring represents one of sport’s highest achievements.
The cabbie described the experience as “cool” and shared it as a highlight from his working day.
Colin Casey, a London taxi driver, said online: “Morning fellow cabbies just a little story from yesterday, pick up a American guy from Heathrow yesterday morning and chatted all the way told me he played in the Super Bowl in 2005 and had his winners Super Bowl ring. He let me try it on how cool is that!"
