London Taxi PR has launched its latest promotional campaign, ‘Choose Taxi’, on Centreforce 883 Radio. The campaign went live at the start of July and will run for six months, with support from Ascotts Group, the UK’s only independent LEVC electric sales and warranty dealer.
The deal with Centreforce includes a 30-second advert airing up to 12 times a day and sponsorship of a weekly premium DJ show. A range of other joint activities between the station and London Taxi PR are also planned during the campaign period.
Centreforce 883 Radio, based in Essex, is well-known among taxi drivers. Broadcasting globally to 192 countries, the station reaches over 16 million listeners via DAB, online platforms, Freeview, and the Tune In app.
‘Choose Taxi’ was created in response to negative media predictions about the future of the London Taxi trade. The campaign encourages the public to choose licensed taxis and is designed to be both engaging and relatable.
As part of the promotional push, T-shirts bearing the ‘Choose Taxi’ slogan have been produced, inspired by the iconic ‘Choose Life’ designs of the 1980s. The slogan has been adopted on social media using the hashtag #ChooseTaxi.
Author and journalist Tony Parsons, a known supporter of the London Taxi trade, helped launch the campaign. Several public figures, including George Clarke, Nick Knowles and Cliff Parisi, have been seen backing the initiative by wearing the branded shirts.
London Taxi PR continues to fund its campaigns through donations from drivers and businesses in the industry. These efforts aim to promote the benefits, safety and value of using licensed taxis across London.
Andy Scott, PR, and Communications for London Taxi PR, said: “I cannot thank Ascotts Group enough for their generous contribution, support, and encouragement in helping us to get this promotional deal done. Centreforce have also been great with their assistance and advice with what we can do, and hopefully achieve as part of this promotion.
“With the help of the regular advertisement and other promotions and mentions of the Choose Taxi campaign, this will enable us to promote the profession and the use of London Taxis to a massive audience, with specific messages. It’s a win-win for us on many levels.”
