NATION MOURNING: TfL asks taxi and PHV drivers to ‘do everything you can to help keep London moving’

Perry Richardson

Transport for London (TfL) have asked the capital’s taxi and private hire drivers to ‘do everything you can to help keep London moving during this difficult time’.

Road closures are being established at a number of locations in Westminster. The road closures are likely to cause some inconvenience, but are seen as a necessary precaution to ensure the safety of those members of public visiting London and to allow the planned ceremonial events to take place.

The Metropolitan Police have been working closely with TfL to minimise any disruption to residents and businesses.

Graham Robinson, TfL General Manager Taxi and Private Hire, told the industry: “Our thoughts are with His Majesty The King and all members of the Royal Family following the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

“In the days ahead London will continue to rely on taxi and private hire services as there are likely to be in excess of a million people coming to the Capital to pay their respects and to attend planned ceremonial events. “There will be road closures in place at locations in Westminster and other temporary changes to respond to and support these events. TfL is working closely with the Metropolitan Police to minimise the disruption of these changes. “We will communicate those changes to you in the coming days so please look out for updates.

Robinson finished by saying: “Please do everything you can to help keep London moving during this difficult time.”
