OPERATION NIGHTSAFE: Out-of-area taxi and PHV compliance checks in Lancashire uncover one small issue
Updated: Dec 28, 2024
City of Wolverhampton Council Public Protection officers have been actively working with police forces across England as part of Operation Nightsafe. The initiative aims to ensure licensed vehicles meet safety and compliance standards.
On 21 December, council officers teamed up with Lancashire Police in Poulton-le-Fylde. Fourteen Wolverhampton-licensed vehicles were inspected during the operation. One vehicle was found to have a minor lighting issue, which has since been resolved.
The same evening, compliance teams collaborated with Greater Manchester Police Traffic in Manchester City Centre. During these checks, 14 Wolverhampton-licensed vehicles were reviewed. Two licences were suspended—one for an illegal tyre and another due to lighting faults and an engine management light issue.
The council emphasised the importance of these checks in ensuring passenger and public safety while maintaining high standards across the fleet.
A City of Wolverhampton Council Public Protection officers said: "Also last night, Compliance Officers worked with Lancashire Police in Poulton-le-Fylde as part of Operation Nightsafe. 14 Wolverhampton Council vehicles checked, 1 had a minor issue with lights which has now been resolved.”
