Police image and appeal after taxi driver racially abused by passenger in Blackpool

Lancashire Police have issued an appeal to identify a man they wish to speak to as part of an investigation into a racially aggravated public order incident involving a taxi driver in Blackpool.
The incident is reported to have taken place at around 9.20pm on 16 January on Whitegate Drive when a passenger allegedly racially abused the driver.
Officers say they are seeking to identify the man pictured as enquiries continue.
In a statement, police said: “Do you know this man? We want to speak to him as part of an investigation into an incident of Racially Aggravated Public Order involving a taxi driver.”

The force added that the incident occurred when “a passenger racially abused the driver” during the journey.
Anyone who recognises the man or has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number 1398 of 16 January.
Racial abuse and threatening behaviour towards licensed drivers remains a recurring concern within the taxi and private hire sector, with industry groups around the UK continuing to call for stronger reporting and enforcement measures to protect drivers working late-night shifts.
