Police seek taxi driver who stopped at scene of fatal Caversham collision

Police are appealing for a taxi driver to come forward after a fatal collision in Caversham which killed two women.
The incident happened at around 7.55am on Friday 27 June on Peppard Road, near the junction with Cedar Wood Crescent. A blue Volkswagen Tiguan collided with two pedestrians.
The victims, a 70-year-old woman and a 68-year-old woman, both died at the scene.
A 47-year-old woman from Reading was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Thames Valley Police say a taxi driver stopped at the scene shortly after the collision, but officers have not yet identified or spoken to them.
Investigating officer PS Matthew Cadmore of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are continuing our investigation following this collision and my thoughts remain with the families of those who died.
“We are aware that a taxi driver stopped at the scene following the incident, but at this time we have not been able to speak to him as a witness.
“As such, if you were the taxi driver who stopped at the scene, we would ask you to please come forward with any information you can provide.
“Additionally we would ask anyone who was driving in the area at the time to please review their dash-cam footage and get in touch if it shows anything that may assist our investigation.
