Taxi and PHV drivers given clean bill of health during roadside drug enforcement checks

Hackney and private hire drivers from Aldershot and Farnborough were given a clean bill of health when they were tested for traces of illegal drugs.

The drivers were checked by licensing officers from Rushmoor Borough Council with support from Hampshire Constabulary’s road traffic team.

In all, 13 drivers were checked without warning and all recorded a negative result. The tests are carried out frequently to ensure licensed taxi drivers are fit to be carrying passengers in the borough.

Any drivers testing positive for drugs face immediate suspension and possible prosecution.
