Taxi driver seriously injured in West Dorset collision as police appeal for witnesses

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a serious road traffic collision in West Dorset that left a taxi driver with significant injuries.
Officers said they received a report at 4.09pm on Thursday 8 January 2026 of a collision involving a red Mitsubishi and a taxi on the A356 at South Perrot.
Emergency services attended the scene and the driver of the taxi, a woman in her 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. No further details on her condition have been released.
A 65-year-old man from West Dorset was arrested on suspicion of driving offences in connection with the incident. Police confirmed he has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The force is asking anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the vehicles prior to the crash, or was travelling in the area with dashcam footage around the time to come forward, as officers continue to establish the full circumstances.
Police Constable Jamie Randell, of Dorset Police, said: “We have been carrying out detailed enquiries into this incident and are keen to hear from any witnesses to the incident, or the manner of the vehicles involved prior to the collision, to please make contact with us.
“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam who were travelling in the vicinity around the relevant time to please check their footage for anything that might assist our investigation.”
