THE NED TAXI RANK: City of London proposes new black cab rank location on Poultry

The City of London Corporation (COLC) has announced plans to introduce a taxi rank clearway on Poultry and relocate the start of the Bank Traffic Restriction in an effort to improve taxi services in the area.

The proposed changes are aimed at ensuring the effectiveness and convenience of the new taxi rank outside The Ned London, while simultaneously facilitating traffic flow and access for taxis in the busy Bank Junction area.

According to COLC, the proposed taxi rank clearway will be implemented on the north side of Poultry, exclusively reserved for taxis. This measure aims to help the rank operate efficiently and fulfill its intended purpose of providing accessible and reliable taxi services. By increasing the number of taxi ranks in the vicinity, local residents and commuters should find it easier and more convenient to find themselves taxi transportation.

Simultaneously, the existing Traffic Restriction on Poultry is set to be relocated closer to Bank Junction, allowing taxis to access the new taxi rank and the associated clearway. This strategic move will create a dedicated space for taxis to queue, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted flow of traffic.

The COLC has announced plans for public consultations and discussions to allow stakeholders and members of the public to share their perspectives on the proposed changes.
