Toyota Motor Europe and Uber have announced a new European partnership aimed at making it easier for ride-hailing drivers and fleet operators to access electrified vehicles through integrated vehicle, finance and insurance packages.
The programme will begin rolling out this month across 10 European countries, including the UK, before expanding to additional markets. The initiative brings together Toyota Motor Europe, Toyota Financial Services, Toyota Insurance Services and KINTO Europe to provide drivers with preferential terms on new and approved used Toyota and Lexus vehicles, alongside flexible financing, leasing and usage-based insurance.
Rather than focusing solely on battery-electric vehicles, the partnership reflects Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy by offering hybrid, battery-electric and approved used vehicles. The approach is intended to accommodate varying charging infrastructure, operating costs and working patterns across different European markets.
Leonardo Carluccio, Toyota Motor Europe Vice President of Sales, said: “Professional drivers need electrified vehicles that work for them economically as well as operationally. Through this partnership with Uber, we are improving access to vehicles, financing and mobility services that drivers can use immediately, while supporting the gradual shift towards lower-emission fleets across European cities. This reflects Toyota’s belief that the transition to lower-emission mobility should be inclusive and accessible to all.”
The wider European agreement builds on Toyota and Uber’s existing relationship in the UK, which was relaunched in 2024. According to Toyota, more than 3,500 Toyota and Lexus vehicles have since been registered through the UK programme, with more than 3,000 of those being fully electric vehicles. KINTO Europe will also provide access to approved used vehicles, offering a lower-cost entry point for drivers looking to move into electrified vehicles.
Raoul Philips Sr, Director Central Operations at Uber, said: “Partnering with Toyota allows us to offer an integrated solution that addresses vehicle ownership, financing, and maintenance. By lowering ownership obstacles, we are accelerating electrification while supporting drivers’ livelihoods in a changing world.”
The announcement comes as European cities continue tightening emissions requirements while ride-hailing drivers face increasing operating costs and evolving regulatory demands.
