Uber has launched a new partnership aimed at supporting its growing base of electric vehicle (EV) drivers in London, offering a 50% discount on ENSO high-performance EV tyres through its Uber Marketplace app.

The offer is exclusive to drivers using the Uber platform and applies to tyres designed for popular EVs such as the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. ENSO tyres are developed specifically to improve EV efficiency, delivering longer range, reduced particulate emissions, and extended durability compared to standard tyre options.

This is Uber’s first partnership with an Earthshot Prize Finalist. ENSO’s inclusion in the scheme reflects Uber’s wider commitment to supporting green technology. ENSO, recognised by The Earthshot Prize for its environmental innovation, joins Uber in advancing sustainable transport for professional drivers in the capital.

The tie-up with ENSO is part of Uber’s involvement as a Founding Partner of The Earthshot Prize, an initiative created by Prince William to accelerate environmental innovation. As part of this involvement, Uber supports climate-focused start-ups by offering product mentorship and pathways to market.

London remains Uber’s flagship electrification city globally. Nearly 40% of all Uber miles in the capital are now fully electric, with thousands of drivers having made the switch through the operator’s Clean Air Plan. Since 2019, Uber has collected over £145 million in Clean Air fees to support drivers transitioning to EVs.

The introduction of discounted ENSO tyres aims to lower ongoing vehicle costs for Uber drivers who have already made the move to EVs, while also further reducing the environmental impact of tyres, which are a source of non-exhaust emissions.

Brit Grant, Head of Electrification at Uber UK, said: “We’re proud to partner with ENSO as part of our ongoing mission to make it as easy and affordable as possible for drivers to go electric in the UK. Uber drivers are already switching to electric vehicles five times faster than the general public, and initiatives like this help us keep up that momentum. By reducing running costs and cutting emissions, this partnership supports our commitment to a cleaner, greener future for cities like London.”

Gunnlaugur Erlendsson, CEO at ENSO, said: “ENSO is playing its part in reducing costs and environmental impact for Uber drivers today. This has been made possible through our partnership with Uber and The Earthshot Prize; a collaboration that brings together sustainability with scale and commercialisation to deliver real impact. ENSO develops A-A rated tyres specifically for EVs like Tesla’s to give drivers more range on a single charge, pay less upfront for their tyres and replace them less often, all of which helps Uber drivers earn more per mile.”
