Autonomous Uber and WeRide taxi services expanded to Al Reem and Al Maryah Islands in Abu Dhabi

Autonomous taxi services in Abu Dhabi have been expanded to cover Al Reem and Al Maryah Islands, following a move by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in collaboration with WeRide, Uber and local operator Tawasul Transport.

The expansion comes under the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council’s strategy and supports Abu Dhabi’s wider goals to strengthen its AI-driven transport network. Both Al Reem and Al Maryah are major hubs for financial, residential and commercial activity, and are now set to see regular autonomous taxi operations as part of the smart transport rollout.
