Police are looking for a driver who fled after a serious crash involving a taxi in Coventry during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to Holbrook Lane, near the junction with Hen Lane, shortly before 1am. The incident involved two vehicles, one of which was a taxi carrying passengers.
West Midlands Police confirmed that officers supported ambulance crews at the scene. The driver of the second car reportedly left the scene before police arrived.
Firefighters from Foleshill Fire Station were also in attendance. They used Holmatro cutting equipment to rescue the taxi’s passengers, who had become trapped as a result of the collision.
A fire service spokesperson said: “We were called to a two-car road traffic collision. A driver of one car had fled the scene. For the second car, a taxi with two passengers, we had to extricate the passengers using specialist equipment. Police and ambulance colleagues were in attendance and the patients were treated before being taken to hospital.”
Police investigations remain ongoing, and officers are working to trace the individual who left the scene.
