Private hire drivers set to protest in Birmingham over Uber and Bolt pricing and recruitment concerns

Private hire drivers in Birmingham, under the banner of the Private Hire Drivers Alliance (PHDA), are set to protest on Monday 1 July. The protest will involve a convoy targeting Uber and Bolt offices in the city.

The PHDA has raised issues about pay and the recruitment practices of major operators including Uber, Bolt, and Veezu. The alliance claims these companies exploit drivers through unfair profit distribution and both fixed and dynamic pricing models should be stopped.

Another key issue is the recruitment of new drivers. The PHDA argues that the influx of new drivers is creating an oversaturated market, making it harder for existing drivers to earn a viable income.

The protest aims to highlight the growing issue facing drivers and for operators to address these concerns implementing change that provides fairer working conditions for drivers.
