Stirling Council has launched a consultation seeking views from local residents and the taxi trade on proposed updates to its Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle and Driver Policy.
The policy sets out minimum operating standards for drivers and vehicles to help maintain public safety and service quality.
Key proposals include new requirements for vehicle age and colour, mandatory CCTV and dashcam equipment, updated medical fitness standards for drivers, additional certification requirements, and foreign conviction checks for all drivers.
The Council’s Planning and Regulation Panel gave approval to move forward with the consultation on 20 May.
The consultation runs until 24 September and can be accessed through the Council’s Engage Stirling platform.
Cllr Neil Benny, Chair of the Council’s Planning and Regulation Panel, said: “We will engage constructively with Stirling’s taxi trade to help us shape this new policy in addition to the wider public.
“Public safety and high standards of customer service are at the heart of this policy and it’s very important that we hear from taxi drivers as well as residents who travel within the council area via a taxi or private hire vehicle.”
