blackcab.com is preparing to launch its new taxi booking app, with marketing plans now underway ahead of its full public release later this month.

The platform has confirmed that licensed London Taxi drivers who previously signed up to Unify London will receive early access to onboarding marketing opportunities before wider rollout.

According to information issued to drivers, early access invitations are being sent on a first-come, first-served basis, with numbers limited. The offer will then be opened to all London taxi drivers from 19 January. The company said the app is expected to appear in the Apple and Google app stores on Monday, subject to final approval.

The app will be open exclusively to licensed Black Cab drivers and will not charge commission on retail work. The service will operate under the regulated fare structure set by Transport for London, with no dynamic pricing or additional booking fees applied to passengers.

Commission-free platform for licensed London Taxi drivers set to go live following App Store approval

blackcab.com follows the acquisition of Unify London Taxis in July 2025 by Lee DaCosta, founder of Cabvision Network Limited. DaCosta confirmed at the time that Unify would be relaunched under the blackcab.com name.

The revamped platform will remain trade-only and commission-free, continuing Unify’s original aim of allowing drivers to retain the full metered fare. Unify was founded by Michael Harris with a stated mission of uniting the Black Cab trade and avoiding fee-based or surge-driven models.

While linked to Cabvision Network Limited, blackcab.com will operate as a separate entity. DaCosta has previously played a central role in Cabvision’s work supporting TfL’s move towards mandatory card payments and has been involved in legal action through the United Trade Action Group.

Further details on the app’s full feature set and launch timetable are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks once app store approvals and marketing activities are finalised.
